The plug-in allows applying new textures/colors to a selected object in a realistic manner. For instance, a dress on a girl can be painted in patterns, dotted or chequered, appear as if made of velvet or satin, or even of wood or candies.
Pros: The Decorator plug-in lets texture maps to be added to surfaces in a picture. Part of image where the texture is to applied should be selected. The plug in ( for Adobe Photoshop in this example) has a wide variety of surface textures to choose from. They range from fabrics to stones and metal, from food to nature elements. The application takes care of the nature of the underlying surface so that the new texture applied looks natural.
While applying strange surface textures to objects gives rise to opportunities of sun, real applications can be in design and creative areas. Prior to painting a house, for example, one can actually see the effect of various colors applied to the walls and decide on a set of color rather than getting an awful effect later on, when it’s done already. Same goes for product designs too. Several parameters of the surface texture chosen can be chosen prior to applying the same. The interface lets you compare before and after effects side by side to let you decide if you want to retain the change and save the result. The parameters include the lighting angle too.
The user interface is really quite simple and it’s easy to figure out even for a complete newbie to get familiar quickly.
Cons: The surface texture collection could have been more extensive, particularly with practical surfaces like colors and their various finishes etc.
Overall: Easy to use application with a simple interface, it does the stated but limited purpose quite well. A 4 star effort without doubt.
